You can write up to TWO of these essays for extra credit.

They will be due by Friday at midnight. I will have them back to you by Tuesday with suggestions and comments.

As always remember you are writing an argumentative essay, with factual evidence to support your thesis. We are using the same Essay Rubric as always, open up the rubric and remind yourself of what you are being assessed on. 

An essay that is less than two pages, double-spaced, will not count as extra credit, but will be used as tissue to prevent the coronavirus since it is so flimsy.

These essays should be submitted on Canvas- there is a quiz on Canvas that has the prompts and that is where you submit them. 

1. Was the Mexican-American War a turning point for the United States in the debate over slavery? When discussing this keep in mind what changed and what stayed the same from before the war to after it.

2. Evaluate the effects of industrialization on U.S. society in the years 1865 to 1900 with regards to Americans in both rural and urban areas.

3. What changed the American city in the last half of the 19th century? Was this real progress for the nation or for only some?
